On International Men’s Day, Men Helpline urges Govt for a deep analysis of NCRB data revealing causes to why men commit suicide

November 19: Men Helpline is a group that promotes men’s and child issues in India and takes part in the initiative that is highly ignored in society. International Men’s Day (IMD) was first started in Trinidad and Tobago in 1999. The Day is celebrated on the 19th November every year worldwide, by the year 2007, India, Australia, the UK and many other countries joined in celebrations. Now, it is celebrated in more than 100 countries. Bollywood is also considering men’s issues and releasing the movie “Ye Mard Bechara” on 19th November.

Kumar S Ratan said, “Our sons and young men should not spend their life running to court on a mare testimony of the complainant woman, let’s ensure Equality in rue sense, everyone equal before the law.”

Men’s Day is to remind Men’s contribution and positivity that is being ignored. Where the world will be talking about the ‘Male Positive Role Model, ‘ India will be talking about suicide and false cases on men. Jerome Teelucksingh, the founder of IMD, urges the need for specific legislation to protect men in India from the increasing number of accusations of false rape and domestic violence.

Jerome Teelucksingh, said, Once cherished family traditions are now corrupted, and family disputes are regularly criminalized. As a result, thousands of innocent and hard-working men endure humiliation, abuse and violence. For International Men’s Day, let us unite to find practical and realistic solutions to end this violence and hate against men.

According to the NCRB data, there has been a significant increase observed in male suicide rate from 19828 in 2010 to 35333 in 2020 in ‘family problem.’

Kumar S Ratan (Men’s and Child Rights Activist, New Delhi) said,One man committing suicide in every 5 minutes whereas family problems cause every third suicide.”

The situation has become that when a husband gets humiliated by in-laws or harassed by the system, the wife does not intervene in it while she enjoys and claims to live unitedly.

“Men who do not exist in their own right are merely defined by their use of others”, Alan Lee Millard (Writer and Prominent Men’s Rights Activist).

Advocate Roopenshu Pratap Singh, Delhi, who is also running MEN TALKS, primarily focuses on raising men’s voices and providing legal training to the male victim.

Advocate Roopenshu Pratap Singh said,It’s a great time to show your gratitude towards that ‘Good Man’ around you who always take care of people around him but keep silence for himself, don’t ignore him, listen to his silent emotions“,

Here, Men Helpline specifically wants to highlight that now women harass the husband even more by the laws. Strategically the wife claims to live together as husband-wife in a situation when the dispute between husband-wife has been criminalized under various acts like ‘Dowry Harassment Act’, ‘Domestic Violence Act’ and others, and a woman is always a victim. At the same time, the man is always treated as an oppressor.

Advocate Vickram Bisyar, an engineer who later became an advocate for his passion for helping men, is active in Haryana and Punjab.

Advocate Vickram Bisyar said,Be a reason of smile of some man, as every third man is silently suffering without complaining to anyone.”

Vivek Singh is a young Ranchi based men’s rights journalist running newsofx.com with an intent to publish men’s related research and the voice of activists worldwide.

Vivek Singh said, Men’s issues which are much ignored, now some specific platform is needed to raise the voice of men.”
